Need advice for a Domination staff.
Goodmorning fellow mesmers,
I like Domination very much, but i dont really know what is the best domination staff. What mods need to be on it?
Do you guys know a weapon that you can prefer me?
What is the best domination staff if you can spend 60k on it?
I aint really a mesmer specialist, thats the way i ask it to you guys.
I hope that you guys can help me.
Greetings,
Just

About the mods:
It depends on your own preference.
Since Inspiration usually provides effective e-management to regular Domination bars, you might want to focus on bonuses on Skill Recharge and Casting Time. In this case, I'd opt for a 20/20, or even a 40/40, wand+focus set, instead of a staff.
If you really want to stick on staves, something like this could do:
The Trickster
Personally, in regular PvE I tend to run bars with quite high FC levels, such as 12+1+1 Domination, 12 Fast Casting, 3 Inspiration. When I go for it, most of my e-management comes from Energy Tap and Leech Signet, which both work well even with so little points spent in Inspiration. Since Casting Time is more than halved by Fast Casting itself, I really have little use for HCT. In this case I use a +5^50 staff with +20 energy overall.
So, you decide. If e-management is not a problem with your bars, go for HCT. If you spend most of your spare points into Fast Casting, you might want to squeeze that little more Energy from your staff. In that case, go for a +20e Staff.
About the looks:
You really don't have much freedom of choice. Most of the universal skins only come with Inspiration requirement. So, you're really limited to:
Ensorcelling Staff
Clairvoyant Staff
Inscribed Staff
None of these is particularly rare or expensive. If you don't like any of those, you might want to try some of the universal skins, but those usually don't come with both an Inscription Slot and a Domination Magic requirement, unless you go for craftable/collector items (Deldrimor/Destroyer/Tormented/BMP)
If you run 9+ Fast Casting, you also have a couple more options:
Aureate Staff
Arcane Staff
So, it's really up to you and your preferences about both the looks and the upgrades. You can try a few settings and choose the one you like best.
Good luck!

Is there a reason why you'd go for a staff?
Looks?
In which case - I am still rooting for the Kaolin Domination Staff. So pretty!
A staff would be a jack of all trades - master of none.
And that is why - I'd go for a 40/40 wand/offhand as your primary set and a +5/+60 spear/shield combo as your secondary.
If you want just one - 40/40 set.

I've been running these stats lately:
Domination major rune, when you switch to a +60 set you should still reach 600.
You have high FC (just two levels lower then yours), same level of dom and you could still pump up inspiration to 11!

Why thank you kind sir!
I remember seeing it at the Factions preview event and I fell in love with it and loved it eversince.
Plus my mesmers end up looking a bit scruffy and the armour just suits that look perfectly!

40/40 wand+foci for main atribute.
+60/+5e spear+shield.
20% recharge/10% fastercasting staff.
(mine is a re9 embercrest with 20% fastercasting inspiration and a 20% enchant mod, good for abusing pve skills and for when i need to use enchants )
dual 15/-1 high set, with 10/10 mods.
Pve sets i usually use.
And *waves to Upier!

Hmm, i've readed a lots of advice you guys gave me. I thank you for that.
I think i can use the information (otherwise i wont ask it ).
But i've readed:"Why it need to be a staff?".
Now here is my answer:
I've never seen a nice looking 40/40 set on a mesmer or with spear etc.
I like a staff the most. Thats the reason
Thank you again for your advice!

My pve mesmer uses a lot of pve spells and a more diverse bar in pvp, so usually the flat 20% HSR on a staff is nice, with insightful and +5 >50 or double 10% HCT all in the head and insc(same as a universal 10/10 wand/ofhand but with better odds on the HSR)
Also these are pretty for domination magic, and cheap: http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gemstone_Staff
these too: http://guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lotus_Staff

I would have to agree with maxxfury, I also run:
1. 40/40 wand+foci for main atribute: - Dom is: Wingstorm & either Hanaku's Focus or The Mindsquall, Insp is: Bogroot Rod & Droknar's Inspiration Focus.
2. Shield/Spear set: +30 Shield with perfect inscribed "Luck of the Draw" Received physical damage -5-20% & +30 Spear perfect inscribed "I have the power!" Energy +5
3. Dual 15/-1 High set: - Dom/Fast is: Yammirvu's Scepter & Mohby's Artifact
4. Last Slot is a high energy unlinked spell recharge for PvE only skills such as Inspired Ghostly Staff (Inspiration, nice skin).

A note on Fast Casting.
FC is a primary atribute which provides "diminishing returns" the more you invest in it.
Quite honestly, you're better off with 8 or 9 Fast Casting, and bumping Inspiration up, rather than investing many points topping FC up to 12 and getting such little return for it.
I suppose the only exception I can think of to the above is [[Mantra of Recovery] where, because you're using a skill from the Fast Casting line, higher investment in FC actually gives you a greater benefit. This is not the same for all FC skills, however. [[Power Return] is often used as a quick-recharging interrupt from FC, but given the state of play in PvE, there is very little point in investing in FC purely for Power Return.

Domination skills by nature balance their high power with cast time and recharge. As a mesmer, you have FC, so your absolute priority in weapon sets is getting recharge times cut to maximize power. 40/40 wand/focus is highly recommended, or as close as possible through your choice of weapon. Extra energy is only marginally useful as you'll likely have Inspiration helping in that area.

40/40 set is the way to go, if you have energy problems you need to practise interrupting more.
i got an platinum wand and celes compass, but those can be quite expensive.
